Interactive media and digital images play an increasing role in how we live our lives and tell our stories. But are we controlling them, or are they controlling us? Platform: New Media Lab explores this question through new works by emerging artists, using installation, sound, and other multimedia formats.

This experimental exhibition features 3 collaborative projects by Thai artists, and new work from 2 visiting Australian artists. The works will draw the audience into an active exploration of the blurred boundaries between the natural world and the simulated world that is starting to overtake it. Platform transforms the spaces of art into spaces for exchange, play and critical reflection on today’s global culture.

The Art Center will also host an improvised audio-visual performance by Platform artists (8 Dec), and a seminar co-hosted by the Hong Kong-based Asia Art Archive (7 Dec). Platform: New Media Lab is part of a wider emerging artists program which includes an exhibition of new installation work at the Queen’s Gallery, from 9 – 30 November.
